How to run the Telephone Tests
01 / Check the Diary, not the Call.An agent that says “you are booked” has told you nothing. The question is always whether the appointment exists in the practice system afterwards.
02 / Write down the Wording.“Someone will call you back” and “we have no availability” mean very different things and are often produced by the same underlying failure.
03 / Repeat one Call twice.A surprising number of defects only appear on the second attempt from the same number.
Run tests only with the practice’s permission, using authorized test identities and appointments. Do not access or cancel another patient’s real appointment. Arrange cleanup of test bookings.
“The twentieth, please.”
The caller is asked which month, and a date in the past is refused.
See the exact Test Instructions
Say a date the agent cannot resolve: “the twentieth” with no month. Then ask for a date last week.

How to interpret your Results
How to read a Result
Look for the Pattern.
Not a Score.
A failure on any single line is not a verdict. What matters is the pattern.
Failures clustered in E.3 mean identity is being decided on a weak signal, and records may be written to the wrong chart. This is the most serious category and the least visible.
Failures clustered in E.1 and E.4 usually mean the practice system is not configured, not that the agent is poor.
A system that never fails out loud, but whose bookings do not appear in the diary, has a reporting problem rather than a booking problem, and that is worse than it sounds. It means nobody will find the next fault either.
Built by Nirmitee
Integration Expertise.
Not a Vendor Scorecard.
Built for teams evaluating, building and running Healthcare Voice Agents. Focused on what happens between the call and the Practice System.
Our Experience and the Checklist’s Scope
Nirmitee builds and runs EHR and practice system integrations for product teams, across Epic, Oracle Health, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks and NextGen, with Mirth Connect interface engines in production. Our open-source FHIR server passes the ONC (g)(10) Inferno SMART App Launch suite, 47 of 47.
This is an operational Acceptance Checklist, not a certification, a clinical safety assessment or a complete security review. The Telephone Tests establish symptoms, not root causes.
